Active participation is key to minimizing risk of account fraud

Target on Thursday announced that 40M credit and debit card accounts may have been affected by a recent data breach. While not directly affected by this breach, Eaton Family Credit Union encourages its members to actively participate in efforts to minimize the risk of fraudulent activity on their accounts. According to Target's news release , customers who swiped their cards at terminals in its U.S. stores between Nov. 27 and Dec. 15 may have had their accounts exposed. The stolen data includes customer names, credit and debit card numbers, card expiration dates and the three-digit security codes located on the backs of cards.  The stolen information included Target store brand cards and major card brands such as Visa and MasterCard.  Eaton Family Credit Union provides Visa-branded credit cards processed by Fidelity Information Services , (FIS), which acknowledged the breach in an announcement to its partners stating it does not provide services to Target,

2013 College Scholarship Winners

Easter Money Bunny Fundraiser Benefits Charities

Eaton Family Credit Union’s spring “Easter Money Bunny” fundraiser totaled $658. The credit union will deliver funds to the Euclid Hunger Center, Willoughby Hills Food Pantry, The Children’s Miracle Network and Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Mike Losneck, President, Eaton Family Credit Union, remarked, “The generosity of our credit union members is matched by the creativity of our staff. Together we are able to support local and national charities that do so much for so many.” Donations of $2 or $5 gave credit union members a chance to win an Easter Bunny tagged with lottery tickets displayed at credit union offices in Euclid, Wickliffe, Willoughby Hills and Lincoln, IL. Valentine’s Day $579 Donation Benefits Domestic Violence Center

Eaton Family Credit Union’s Valentine’s Day “dinner and a movie” giveaway resulted in $579 donation to Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy Center, which empowers individuals, educates the community and advocates for justice to end domestic violence and child abuse. This special Valentine’s Day fundraiser was the brainchild of Eaton Family Credit Union employees, Kenyita and Kristina. They sold tickets for three weeks and chose the winner right before Valentine’s Day. Longtime member, Mike from Concord Township, received movie tickets donated by Atlas Cinemas plus Olive Garden and Giant Eagle gift cards.
